Thursday Thoughts, Edition 005; March 7th, 2013

A lot’s been on my mind this past week, most of it IRL deals.

To be brief, let’s just say I not only got a reality check during the course of the past few days, but I also got hit upside the head by ancient -- but still very, very relevant -- wisdom several times. I’ve got a lot to plan for now, not only for the sake of my current endeavors, but also for my own personal sake.

I think I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: this is dark territory I’m exploring, playing with Livestream and YouTube media. So while I might be ready in one or two aspects, I’ve realized now that I’m totally not prepared in a slew of others. What those aspects are, cats and kittens, I’m not quite ready to be open about just yet; so until things have settled down and smoothed over, I request that you happy lot be patient with me... and for those of you who pray, keep me in your thoughts.

That said, now with all that sticky IRL business out of the way, let’s get down to the channels.

I’m going to be frank, cats and kittens -- I’m starting to float away from Livestreaming. Don’t get me wrong: Livestreaming is a great medium and it’s perfect if I want to hang out with loads of people while sharing my favorite games and such. Thing is, I’m a newbie at this whole internet media dealio, and I don’t quite have the ‘loads’ of people to share my shenanigans with live... Yet. :3

I’ll still livestream, but for the time being, livestreaming willl have to be a less common occurrence, as maintaining two channels with regular content is a little more than I can handle right now. Maybe when I have the capacity to both hardware and timewise, I’ll go back to having a regular livestreamed show.

Anyways, I’ll need to think more on how things are going to get shuffled about again. I’ll let you happy lot know what’s what when I’m a bit more certain.

Until next time, folks; have fun, be safe, and be awesome. I’ll see you again soon.

  1. I've replied to your post on CCGR.

If the rendering is the major problem, maybe you can try a different rendering software. I use Cyberlink Powerdirector and it really helps me render my files faster than any other program.

As for you leaving Livestream, that is unfortunate. I do think they are fun to watch, but you'll probably be able to get a bigger following on Youtube. Sure.

Now, if I may, can I give you some advice? Have you thought about making videos that aren't Minecraft? Why I'm asking, is because Minecraft is the most over-saturated, and people are overwhelmed with the amount of videos that are offered. So they instead stick to their favourite Youtubers.

Another reason being, that me and Donny aren't exactly huge Minecraft fans. Don loves Sonic, so I decided to start a Sonic series to please him. Why? because he's one of my viewers, and my job as a Youtuber is to please my viewers. I try to appeal to you, and a few others as well, just to see if it will get you guys more interested in my videos. I'm even planning to create a video where you can choose which game you'd like me to play next.

It's tough, yes. But that's just the way it is. Maybe there is a game that you've loved when you were growing up that you'd like to share with us? I personally love anything retro (and so do many adults), so that will get my view right off the bat. It will also help you gain a following of older viewers, since they most likely grew up with that game as well. Just be sure you're very good at the time, otherwise you will die a lot and people get turned off by that. :P

Also, I do watch your videos, but I don't know what to leave as a comment because of my lack of interest of Minecraft. They're great videos though, don't get me wrong.

Anyways, this comment is just about as long as a blog post, but I felt this was the best way to put it.

If I may use part of you catchphrase: Continue being awesome. :D

I meant to say "game" instead of "time". oops.

  2. First off, thanks, ShyGuy, for the very honest advice. I'll definitely look into the software and see if it plays nice with Adobe. It'll definitely help if it does. :3

    Truth be told, yes, I am planning to branch out into other games because Minecraft is, well, all over the place. I'm just starting out with it because it's accessible, simple, and I like the creative capabilities it offers. Now, I won't be outright replacing it (because I do enjoy playing through maps and RPing adventures,) but I do agree that I might need to back it off a little and play a wider diversity of games. I'll have to get on that once I burn through my batch of videos for LoaPOB. ^^;;

In regards to content from other games: I'm planning to revive an RP'd Pokemon series I attempted on my Livestream, so there's that to look forward to, and I do want to have some multiplayer shenanigans on something like Portal 2 or Magicka (when I can afford to buy something off of Steam, as those are the only two multiplayer games other than Minecraft that I currently have license to play. :/ ...) Other things I want to play are some the old-school Final Fantasy games, maybe a little old-school Legend of Zelda, some flash games (I was surprised at what browser-based gaming could offer these days,) and give games like Earthbound a fair shot. (I smell a theme here. *chuckle*)

Normally, I'd wait for another Thursday Thoughts to lay out plans like this, but given that these aren't set in stone, yet, it felt like a good idea to discuss here.

Any other game suggestions to toss into the pile? I'll appreciate it. :3

    Keep being awesome!

  3. I'm interested in doing some Multiplayer Portal 2 stuff if you'd like. The Pokemon RP series sounds awesome, too.

My Steam account is http://steamcommunity.com/id/Krytae/ if you'd like to add me.

When it comes to future episodes, any game would be interesting for me. I really like your RP stuff because it's a skill that a lot of people can't do very well. Like me. I'm horrible at it.

Anyways, whatever works for you. It's nice to appeal to your fanbase, but make sure it's something you enjoy as well. :)
